MyMemories August 2021 Blog Train & My Store Closing Sale

Hi there, thanks for stopping by my blog! I have good news and bad news for you today. The good news is that everything in my store is 70% off now through the end of the month. 😊 The bad news is that it's because I've decided not to renew my contract at MyMemories. 😟

As much as I love designing, I began to realize about six months into my contract year that it was just too much sitting for my good health when I began to experience side effects of it. (You may have heard of the saying, "Sitting is the new smoking," which means that it's that bad for you!) I was sitting at my computer for around 60 hours per week. Over the next few months, I tried to streamline my work process and also get more exercise while away from my desk. Unfortunately, it just didn't help enough. So despite wanting to make the most of this fun and rewarding experience, I eventually decided that I could not continue on after the year was up. I want to sincerely thank all of you who have supported me both with your purchases and your kind comments and encouragement. It has meant so much to me.

You may be interested to know that charitable donations were made using almost all of my earnings from this venture, including one full cleft palette surgery for a child, plus support to a Milwaukee homeless shelter (they also do Bible studies, vocational training, teach parenting skills, etc. to help residents succeed), a local refuge for abused women and their children, an orphanage in Bulgaria for disabled children, and a local girl's heart surgery fund, just to name some of them. In choosing charities, I tried to make sure that they were mostly smaller organizations that could really use the funds to do good rather than giant ones where my relatively small contributions wouldn't matter much. These donations were only possible because of you, the digital scrapbooking community.

My whole point in designing was to do what my name says, have a giving heart. 💜 I am so grateful to have been a small part of your circle during the past year - what a blessing! My designs were a way of serving God, but I know that there are so many ways to do that. Since this one has negative effects on my health, then it's just time to find a different way.

Thanks for bearing with me through all of that! Now for my last MyMemories blog train!

  5. Thank-You for the current & past gifts. I am thrilled that your endeavors and our support allowed so many charitable gifts to be given.
I understand the need to be less sedentary (Covid 19 = 20,30,40 pounds LOL).
All the best in your future undertakings.

  6. Thanks heaps for the gifts you have provided. It was sad to read that you are no longer designing. I hope that you will still find the occasional time to do some as this is a talent that you have used well. So good to read of the donations you have been able to make. You have been a blessing to all.

PS - have you tried a standing desk?
